Mr Doug Craig

Mr Doug Craig is the Executive Director of Housing and Community Building Division within the Department of Human Services and the Director of Housing for Victoria; positions Doug has held since July 2011.

In October 2010 Doug moved to Victoria from New Zealand to take up a new position within DHS, as Executive Director, Industry, Workforce and Strategy.

Prior to moving to Victoria Doug had spent 12 years with the New Zealand Ministry of Social Development. Within the Ministry Doug held a variety of senior management roles including; Chief Legal Advisor, Deputy Chief Executive, Corporate and Governance Group and Deputy Chief Executive and Director, Office of the Chief Executive.

Doug was also the head of the Ministry’s Government Services Transformation Programme which was established as a joint venture between the Ministry, the Inland Revenue Department and the Department of Internal Affairs in January of 2010.

Doug has served with the New Zealand Army, both as a Legal Officer (from 1994-1998) and as a Reserve Forces Artillery Officer.  Doug holds degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Otago and has worked as a lawyer in private practice.
