Mr John Mortimore
John Mortimore (M.Business, Marketing; F.C.P.A.) is a company director and consultant in marketing and business development. He is on the Board of Waverley Industries Ltd. and several proprietary companies. He is also an Executive Member of the State Library of Victoria Foundation.
John has held corporate management positions in Australia and overseas, including Unilever (Group Product Manager), Cadbury-Schweppes (Group Marketing Manager), I.C.I. (Executive Director of subsidiary Polycell Products) and Tattersall's.
As General Manager of Tattersall's, he also served as Chairman of the Australian Lotto Blocs and represented the company to communities and governments throughout Australia. He was directly responsible for leading Tattersall's development of new products and services and this resulted in the introduction of poker machine gaming - TattsPokies - in Victoria and the launch of new lotteries - OzLotto and Powerball - throughout Australia. John was also the architect of Tattersall's strategy to develop business through new channels and introduced new member-card, telephone and internet transaction services both nationally and internationally. He established the company's business in Fiji and the Pacific region and helped guide it successfully into South Africa.
During his 16-year tenure he saw Tattersall's grow from $A600 Million to $A14 Billion in Annual Turnover, thus becoming Australia's largest private company by volume.
