Mr Michael Kerry

Michael Kerry is the Managing Director, Planning, Design and Development – Australia New Zealand for AECOM. Previously he was Regional Director (Queensland) for Parsons Brinckerhoff, a senior executive with Babcock & Brown Australia, a Director with the Springfield Land Corporation, an Urban Management Adviser and the Executive Director, Office of Urban Management, Queensland. Michael was responsible for establishing the Office in 2004 and preparing a Regional Plan and Infrastructure Plan and Program for South East Queensland. From 1992-2004 he was Divisional Manager, Urban Management, with the Brisbane City Council, a Director of the South Bank Corporation for 12 years and an inaugural Director of Brisbane City Enterprises Pty Ltd. Michael has extensive experience in city and regional planning, infrastructure planning, major projects, housing policy and urban development over 40 years. Before joining Brisbane City Council in 1992, he was Executive Director of the Western Australian Planning Commission and Chief Executive Officer of the Joondalup Development Corporation in Perth; Planning Manager for Metropolitan Adelaide in South Australia; Director of Planning in the Northern Territory and Senior Urban Planner with the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation and National Capital Development Commission. International experience includes 3 years in the United Kingdom in environmental planning and urban renewal; local government capacity building in South Africa; and strategic planning advisor for Riyahd, Saudi Arabia. Michael holds tertiary qualifications in Geography, Economics, and Civic Design and is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia, former Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Immediate Past-President of the Planning Institute Australia (Queensland Division) and is Adjunct Professor, University of Queensland. He is a Board Member of the Centre for Subtropical Design, Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA), Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC) and Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI). |
