Professor Chris Marlin

Professor Chris Marlin is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) for Flinders University and has led research management for the University since 1998. Prior to this, he was the Head of the University's Department of Computer Science. Before coming to Flinders University, he held a range of academic positions in Australia and the United States.

Professor Marlin's research interests cover various aspects of how software development in industry can be improved through the provision of better computer-based tools to help with software development.

Professor Marlin is a current or past director of nine companies. Since 2003, Professor Marlin has been the inaugural Chair of the Information Economy Advisory Board, advising the Minister for Science and Information Economy in South Australia on all matters relating to information technology. He is also the Chair of the South Australian e-Research Board, Chair of the Steering Committee for the state-wide Centre for Intergenerational Health and a member of the Premier's Science and Research Council.

Professor Marlin holds Bachelor of Science (Honours) and PhD degrees in Computing Science from the University of Adelaide. He is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Companion of Engineers Australia.
