Barbara Harman

Barbara Harman is the Executive Assistant at the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute commencing this position in March 2004.

Barbara has extensive experience providing administration support at an executive level and management experience in the areas of marketing, business development, event management and media communications.

Career highlights include a 4-year tenure as Personal Assistant to the Director of Public Affairs and Group General Manager of Ansett Transport Industries (Ansett) and a 10-year tenure providing administration support to the Joint Managing Directors of Ansett. During this time, Barbara participated in a joint government and private enterprise Trade Mission to the People’s Republic of China and was appointed Alternate Director on the Board of a joint venture company established to manage the construction and operation of a Business Centre and Hotel in Beijing.

Barbara later took up the position of Marketing and Communications Manager for Hayman Island Resort and managed all aspects of marketing and media communications worldwide. She held this position for 8 years and successfully managed a marketing budget of $1.3 million. She was also assigned to the Business Development Project team at Ansett.
