Dr Ian Winter
Ian Winter is the Executive Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute, commencing this position in November 2003.
He is a former Research Director of AHURI and Principal Research Fellow of the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Ian is a member of the Victorian Ministerial Housing Council and sits on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the international journals Housing, Theory and Society, Housing Studies and Urban Policy and Research.
Ian has conducted research and published internationally on a wide range of social policy matters including housing, social inequality, urban fringe living, family housing careers, community change and social capital.
In 2001 he published Australia at Home: an overview of contemporary housing policy issues; in 2000 he edited Social Capital and Public Policy in Australia and in 1999 co-authored, with Lois Bryson, Social Change Suburban Lives: Australian Newtown 1960s-1990s.
