Andrew Jones is Director of the Housing Policy Research Program, UQ Social Research Centre, The University of Queensland.  He is Director of the AHURI Queensland Research Centre. 

Andrew was Head of the School of Social Work and Social Policy, UQ from 2000-2003.  His areas of academic expertise include social policy analysis, human services management, community planning and social work practice.  He has taught for many years in these areas.   His current research is focused on Australian housing policy for older people, social housing management, and local governance and community planning.  

He leads the AHURI Queensland Research Centre's research program on ‘Housing policies for older Australians', including AHURI-funded projects on rental retirement villages, affordable rental housing provision for older people, linkages between housing and care, and home maintenance and home modifications.  He has also been involved in research funded by AHURI and the Queensland Department of Housing on social housing management including sustaining tenancies in public housing, local partnerships between housing and mental health authorities, and success and failure in public rental.  He has a strong interest in developing effective research-policy linkages and has completed an AHURI-funded project on this topic.
