Associate Professor Kath Hulse
Kath is Director of the AHURI Swinburne-Monash Research Centre and Program Leader Cities and Housing at Swinburne University's Institute of Social Research.
Kath has a long professional background in areas of public policy, in particular housing and urban development. She has extensive experience as a senior executive in government: in research, policy development, strategic planning and program management. She has also been involved in the not-for-profit sector and is currently Vice Chair of Melbourne Affordable Housing, a community housing association.
Kath's current role is as a researcher, teacher and contributor to public policy debates. She leads Swinburne's Cities and Housing Program which conducts policy-related research into various housing and urban issues and runs courses specifically designed for housing practitioners around Australia and New Zealand who are sponsored by government and community housing providers.
Kath's academic qualifications are in Social Administration and Social Policy, Urban and Regional Planning, and Public Policy. Her current interests cover a broad range of public and social policy issues, including social cohesion, the role of housing and location in shaping economic and social participation outcomes, and new approaches to social and affordable housing.
