Maryann is an Associate Professor in the School of Geography and Environmental Science, Monash University and Deputy Director, AHURI Swinburne-Monash Research Centre.  Prior to her appointment at Monash University, Maryann has held senior research positions with the initial AHURI organisation, Australian Institute of Family Studies, and senior academic positions at Swinburne University of Technology and Cornell University (USA).  Her research interests include social and demographic trends and housing market outcomes; changing households and housing careers; and population mobility, location and socio-spatial polarisation. 

Maryann's PhD is in the field of urban sociology and demography.  At present she is leading the AHURI project on Australia’s private rental market: changes (2001-2006) in the supply of, and demand for, low rent dwellings.  She is also an invited member of an ARC-Academy of Social Science project on population mobility trends in Australia as well as coordinating an international team of researchers for the 2007 Metropolis Conference that will investigate regional migration schemes.
