Description

This research involved an audit and review of Australian Indigenous housing literature, 1970-2006.

The key findings from the research are:

  • Key foci are housing design, housing management, the occupation and use of housing, home ownership, and housing and well being.
  • Key gaps are the sustainability of housing and living environments, housing pathways and preferences and the links between demographic change and housing outcomes.
  • Key characteristics of the literature are that it is multi-disciplinary, multi-method, focussed on remote locations, and that Indigenous people have played an important role in the conduct of the research.
