Updating the AHURI Housing Microsimulation Model
Summary
This project updated NATSEM’s housing spatial micro-simulation model HOUSEMOD to the take into account the 2003-04 Survey of Income and Housing. This is particularly important when modelling outcomes in the housing market, as the 2003-04 data was collected during the housing boom.

Description
In recent projects with AHURI, the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) has been using a microsimulation model of the Australian housing system. This model is based on the 1998-99 Household Expenditure Survey.
Data from the latest Household Expenditure Survey (2003-04) is now available, and is being incorporated into NATSEM's microsimulation models. The latest SIH is also available. This survey has a larger sample size than the previous survey, giving more reliable data.
