This report, produced by AHURI’s Research Synthesis Service and commissioned by Housing NSW, provides findings from a research synthesis of international evidence on how governments can intervene to improve the lives of disadvantaged residents in areas of concentrated poverty and disadvantage.

Description

The report covers the scope and quality of the evidence, the definition of locational disadvantage, the types and outcomes of interventions and identifies best practice principles and lessons.

A presentation based on the report was made at the Shelter NSW Welcome Home Conference, 29 June 2011.  The presentation is available on the Shelter NSW website.
