Professor Aleksander Subic
Professor Aleksandar Subic currently holds the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Development) at Swinburne University of Technology. In this role, he is responsible for strategic leadership and development across the research and innovation ecosystem of the university, including research centres, institutes and precincts (e.g. Swinburne Innovation Precinct and Swinburne Factory of the Future). Prior to this appointment, he held positions of Dean of Engineering and Head of School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University, where he played a key role in conceiving and developing the RMIT Advanced Manufacturing Precinct during 2012- 2015 period. Professor Subic played a key leadership role on strategic advanced manufacturing developments and bids leading to the award of the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Higher Education awards in 2015 and 2016.
Professor Subic holds positions on the Prime Ministers Industry 4.0 Taskforce, the Australian Advanced Manufacturing Council Leaders Group, Deputy Chair of the National Aerospace and Aviation Industries Association, and Director of Oceania Cybersecurity Centre. He has been awarded Fellowships of the Institute of Engineers Australia and of the Society for Automotive Engineering, as well as Honorary Professorial appointments at Tsinghua University and Nanjing University in China. Through this work and international research engagement, he has led the establishment and development of Joint Research Centres in China, HK, Malaysia and Europe. In partnership with Siemens, he is driving the development of an Industry 4.0 capability platform at Swinburne supported by the Siemens industrial digitalisation grant estimated at the commercial value of $135 million.
