Following Dr Ian Winter's decision to step down as Executive Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) in December 2017, the AHURI Board of Directors are seeking an outstanding Executive Director to oversee the ongoing delivery of high quality and impactful research that influences policy development and practice in the areas of housing, urban development and homelessness.
Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Chairman of the AHURI Board of Directors, the Executive Director will develop and implement the vision and strategic directions of the Institute, including the business development, research and operational plans. The Executive Director will develop the next era of institutional excellence and innovation and take lead responsibility for stakeholder management with members of parliament, senior officials, academics, and leaders in the industry and community sectors. The position also acts as the media spokesperson for the Institute.
You will be an experienced and influential leader skilled in implementing strategy and driving key initiatives to further strengthen relationships with government, education, community and corporate agencies. Demonstrating expertise in one or more of the following areas: social policy, economic policy, economic research, social science research or a related discipline, you will have a thorough understanding of research design and have made a significant contribution to housing and urban planning and policy in Australia, or a related field. PhD or other appropriate postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience required.
