Oliver Richards is the Assistant Secretary of the Cities Economics Branch in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Since joining the Commonwealth Public Service in 2001, Oliver has worked as an economist in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Department of Climate Change, the Department of Treasury and the Productivity Commission.
Oliver has worked in macro- and micro-economics and on a range of key reviews and taskforces related to the Government bond market and Future Fund, industry policy, agricultural regulation, and the emissions trading scheme.
Oliver holds a range of qualifications from the Australian National University including a Bachelor of Asian Studies, a Bachelor of Economics with Honours and Masters in both Economics and Economic Policy. Oliver also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and Honours in Accounting and Finance from the University of Western Australia.
