Dr Tim Williams

Tim is the Chief Executive Officer of The Committee for Sydney. Previously he was the senior Special Advisor to a number of UK cabinet ministers in the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG).

In London, Tim advised the two main Host Boroughs, the Olympic Delivery Authority, the London Development Agency, the Olympic Legacy Company and was the advisor to the CEO of Lend Lease on the construction of the Olympic Athletes Village. He was CEO of the Thames Gateway London Partnership.

For ten years Tim had a weekly column in the professional journal ‘Regeneration and Renewal’ and currently writes a blog for them on urban renewal and development issues in Australia. He has written and published reports on the design of affordable housing (for the Housing Corporation: published in 2007 as ‘The Williams Report’) and on urban design: he wrote much of the current London Mayor’s Design Guide for London.

Tim is a graduate of Cambridge, has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Oxford, and a Ph.D from Wales.
