Associate Prof Julie Lawson

Dr Julie Lawson is an international urban researcher and housing policy analyst based in Europe. She has strong ties to Australia and is currently Honorary Associate Professor at the Centre for Urban Research, RMIT University, leader of the AHURI Inquiry into Social Housing as Infrastructure and Associate Editor of the international journal Housing Theory and Society.
Julie’s long term commitment to interdisciplinary research, international knowledge exchange and policy reform has guided her work over the past twenty years with well-respected international organisations and research institutes in the field of urban planning and housing policy in numerous countries. From her bases in Australia and Europe she has recently completed influential research on federal-state relations and the funding of urban policy and programs; comparative security of occupancy in the private rental market; and the use of bonds, guarantees and financing intermediaries to facilitate long term investment in affordable and social housing.
