Research consultant and Council to Homeless Persons (VIC) Board Member
Michael Horn is a Social Research Consultant based in Melbourne working primarily with innovative not-for-profits. Michael has over 28 years’ experience as a social researcher, policy analyst and project manager, following a successful early career as an aerospace materials engineer in the UK and Australia.
For over 13 years he led research activities at Hanover Welfare Services to build stronger understandings of homelessness leading to services reform. Following 3 years at Melbourne Citymission to develop their Research and Social Policy Unit, Michael moved to the Brotherhood of St Laurence in 2007, where he led a range of research in the fields of labour market interventions and social inclusion. He was an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Social & Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne from 2010 to 2015.
As a consultant, Michael has undertaken a number of assignments for State Government, large NfPs as well as smaller grass roots initiatives and peak bodies. His current focus is on housing and homelessness research and program reform. Michael has recently joined the Board of the Council to Homeless persons (Victoria).
