New AHURI research project to support homeless veterans
A coordinated national response to homelessness in the veteran community
8 Nov 2016
AHURI’s Professional services team is very pleased to be working with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs conducting research into homelessness in the veteran community.
Researchers from the University of New South Wales and the University of Adelaide will lead the project which aims to determine of the number of veterans accessing homeless services, the factors that cause homelessness and the experiences of homeless veterans. This information will help Government better integrate support services available to homeless veterans with those offered by mainstream specialist homelessness service providers.
In a media release, the Minister for Veterans' Affairs Dan Tehan said ‘Veteran homelessness is a challenge that requires a coordinated national approach to ensure the provision of appropriate assistance to all former members of the Australian Defence Force.’
The research will be completed by the end of 2017.
