Following an extensive international search, the Board of AHURI are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Michael Fotheringham as the new Executive Director of AHURI, to commence when Dr Ian Winter steps down in mid-December after fourteen years in the role.

Through his current role as Head of Research Services and Deputy Executive Director of AHURI, Michael brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of AHURI and its workings with federal, state and territory governments and its national network of university partners.

Prior to his work at AHURI, Michael worked as a public health researcher and as a policy specialist and executive in health and human services. In previous roles as General Manager Strategy at Arthritis Victoria and Director of Research at Baptcare, he dealt extensively with incorporating research into the development of policy at large not-for-profit organisations. It was through these roles that he discovered the strengths and depth of AHURI research.

Michael's experience will prove invaluable in fulfilling AHURI’s mission to deliver high quality housing and urban research that influences policy development and improves outcomes for all Australians.

AHURI Chairman, Mr Tony De Domenico says Michael's experience will prove invaluable in fulfilling AHURI’s mission to deliver high quality housing and urban research that influences policy development and improves outcomes for all Australians.

“Since starting at AHURI in early 2014, Michael has been a dedicated and highly valued member of the AHURI Executive team. He has supported Dr Winter in all facets of the Executive Director role during this time, and his appointment is testament to the skills he has already brought to AHURI”.

“The AHURI Board and staff are very pleased to congratulate Michael on his appointment and look forward to continue working with him into the future” says Mr De Domenico.
