International keynote speaker announced for National Housing Conference 2017
Evan Siddall, CEO of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, confirmed as keynote speaker for #NHCSydney
Mr Evan Siddall, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), has been confirmed as an international keynote speaker for the National Housing Conference 2017 in Sydney. Mr Siddall will highlight how the CMHC works and the way Canada supports access to affordable housing and inclusive communities.
The CMHC plays an important role, contributing to the stability of the housing market and financial system, providing support for Canadians in housing need and offering objective housing research and advice to Canadian governments, consumers and the housing industry. In 2015 the Corporation generated profits of $1.5 billion on revenues of $4.6 billion.
In particular, the Corporation is actively involved in helping the federal Government develop a National Housing Strategy. Between June and October 2016 more than 7000 submissions were received from people all over Canada as to what should be in the strategy. The Canadian Government are committed to releasing a comprehensive National Housing Strategy in 2017.
Evan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the CMHC in January 2014. Prior to joining CMHC, he served as Special Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank’s Senior Representative to Toronto, where he led projects designed to promote continuous financial markets and the stability of the Canadian financial system.
