The Queensland Minister for Housing and Public Works, Mick de Brenni, said ‘Through the development of the new 10-year housing strategy, my department has been working with AHURI and this new commitment will ensure we are contributing to and have access to the most up-to-date and informative research available.’
As a member of the National Housing Research Program, the Queensland Government will have the opportunity to be involved in developing research topics to better understand the challenges that face all governments in the areas of housing and homelessness.
AHURI Executive Director, Dr Ian Winter, said ‘The support of the Queensland Government, alongside that of all states, territories and the Australian Government, will allow AHURI to continue our research on priority housing, homelessness and urban issues.’
The Queensland Government announced its intention to re-join on 3 November.
