NHC site tours to showcase innovative affordable housing developments
Sydney’s newest affordable housing developments will be on display

Before the official National Housing Conference program kicks off, a number of pre-Conference site tours will allow delegates to see some of Sydney’s newest affordable housing developments. The site tours provide delegates with an opportunity to engage firsthand with creative and inspiring solutions in the housing sector and provide tangible examples of innovative practice in NSW.
Tour 1: Large scale urban renewal – Riverwood and Campbelltown
Tuesday 28 November
Visit some of the NSW Government's largest urban renewal projects in Campbelltown and Riverwood, which have been identified as a significant precincts for Sydney. Starting with lunch in Riverwood, delegates will then visit the soon to be completed Washington Park development comprising a mix of social and private housing. The tour will then visit a range of Campbelltown Renewal Projects focused on creating vibrant and liveable communities. Find out more.
Tour 2: Developing a second city – Telopea and Parramatta
Wednesday 29 November
With Sydney’s CBD the most populated in the country, Parramatta is positioned to be the state’s second city. This site tour will provide attendees with an engaging session on the masterplanning involved in creating a 'second city' and will examine housing, renewal and community spaces. Including morning tea and lunch as well as a presentation from the Greater Sydney Commission, this tour will give delegates insight into the exciting developments in one of Sydney's fastest growing regions. Tour 3: Inner-city innovation in social housing delivery – Glebe and South Sydney
Wednesday 29 November
As Sydney's population is expected to double over the next 40 years there is a need to consider how best to use inner-city land to not only create housing but renew these areas to make them great, liveable neighbourhoods. On this site tour, learn about how the inner-city renewal of Glebe and South Sydney is integrating housing with the community, before finishing with a Cornerstone lunch at the iconic Carriageworks, housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Yards.
