  1. Addressing concentrations of disadvantage—Auburn case study report

    Description: This case study was undertaken as part of a larger project looking into concentrations of disadvantage in Australia’s major capital cities—Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Its main objectives were to better understand the experience of living in a ‘disadvantaged area’, to explore the pros and cons of these areas from the residents perspective and to investigate the role that housing, planning and associated interventions may play in either exacerbating or tackling local problems.

  10. Secure occupancy in rental housing: conceptual foundations and comparative perspectives

    Description: This report is concerned with the nature of housing occupancy for households that rent, particularly low-income and vulnerable households. It describes and compares provisions for secure occupancy across a variety of rental systems in Australia and similarly developed countries, and attempts to interpret to what extent such provisions are adequate and appropriate to the needs of households, especially those who rely on renting for significant periods (or all) of their lives.
