AHURI researcher discusses 'Airbnb effect' with RN Breakfast

Dr Laura Crommelin on technological disruption in the housing market

8 November 2018

AHURI researcher Dr Laura Crommelin joined ABC Radio National Breakfast host Fran Kelly to speak about AHURI research into short term letting. The interview provided an insightful discussion which covered the suburbs impacted the most by the 'Airbnb' effect and the implications for renters and for housing affordability.

We've looked at rental bond lodgements and we see in those inner city areas that they're often going down which suggests that there are fewer properties available for people to rent.

The report can be downloaded from the AHURI website.

Dr Laura Crommelin will present findings from the research at the upcoming AHURI one-day conference Disrupting the housing market in Hobart at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Tuesday 4 December 2018.
