Government releases Consultation Paper for affordable housing bond aggregator

Consultation Paper to seek feedback on key housing policy measures

26 September 2017

The Australian Government has released a Consultation Paper to seek feedback on the potential structure and governance of the proposed National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC), and the operation of the National Housing Infrastructure Facility (NHIF) and an affordable housing bond aggregator.

The proposed affordable housing bond aggregator, which aims to provide cheaper and longer term finance for community housing providers, derives from recommendations from the Affordable Housing Implementation Taskforce. In turn, the Taskforce recommendations are based on AHURI research, Enhancing affordable rental housing investment via an intermediary and guarantee.

The Government encourages interested stakeholders to make a written submission on the matters raised in the Consultation Paper by 20 October 2017.
