Description: This Critical Perspectives paper (one of two) was written at the beginning of the AHURI Multi Year Research Program into Addressing Concentrations of Social Disadvantage. The paper sought to build an understanding of socio-spatial disadvantage in Australia’s major capital cities through an exploration of the role of the Australian housing system, the housing markets which structure and define the dynamics of that system, and associated government policies (or absence of policies).
