Professor Kristian Ruming

Professor Kristian Ruming is the Director of the Macquarie University Housing and Urban Research Centre. He is an urban geographer with 25 years’ experience researching issues related to urban governance, housing and planning. He has been Chief Investigator on ARC Discovery Projects investigating urban regeneration, land assembly and resident-led collective property sales, and student housing provision. He was awarded an ARC Future Fellowship to explore university land and property development. He is a former member of the ARC College of Experts.
Kristian's research interests also include planning system reform, social housing construction and management, and community engagement in housing planning and delivery. He has authored numerous planning and housing studies for state government departments and local councils.
