National Housing Research Program

The National Housing Research Program (NHRP) is Australia’s premier mechanism for funding, publishing and disseminating housing and homelessness research.

The annual, nationally competitive research program is managed by AHURI with funding from the Australian and all state/territory governments. Research through the NHRP is undertaken by our network of partner universities from around Australia.

Over more than 25 years, the NHRP has been building an evidence-base of practical research to support housing and homelessness policy development. To date, it has funded more than 450 research projects and policy-oriented, high quality publications.

The NHRP invests in a range of activities including:

  • peer-reviewed research
  • research capacity building
  • research dissemination
  • engagement between the research and policy communities.
