Associate Professor Chris Martin is a housing researcher and Scientia Fellow in the City Futures Research Centre, UNSW Sydney. Chris has qualifications in political economy, law and criminology, and a special interest in rental housing policy and tenancy law.
Chris has led and participated in numerous inquiries and research projects for AHURI, the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other research funders. These include AHURI’s ‘Inquiry into the future of private rental’ and ‘Inquiry into socially supported housing pathways’, and the AHURI projects ‘Regulation of residential tenancies and impacts on investment’ and ‘Towards a National Housing and Homelessness Strategy’.
Before joining City Futures, Chris was the Senior Policy Officer of the Tenants' Union of NSW, and a past Chair of Shelter NSW.
