Nicole Gurran is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Sydney, where she directs the University’s Henry Halloran Urban & Regional Research Initiative. Her research and teaching focus on urbanism, housing, and climate resilience. She has led numerous studies funded by the Australian Housing & Urban Research Institute, the Australian Research Council, as well as state and local government, and written several books including Australian Urban Land Use Planning; Urban Planning and the Housing Market; and Politics, Planning and Housing Supply in Australia, England and Hong Kong. In 2024 she served as Co-Commissioner on the People’s Commission into the Housing Crisis. Professor Gurran graduated from the University of Sydney with a Master of Urban & Regional Planning in 1996 and a PhD (Urban and Regional Planning) in 2002.
