AHURI to host COVID-19 international housing policy exchange

AHURI has formed a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to convene an international housing policy exchange in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This online policy roundtable will provide an important platform for international knowledge exchange and evidence building as global recovery commences. It will focus on the impact of COVID-19 in each country including measures to contain the spread, economic responses and social welfare responses, as well as exploring pathways to recovery.

Currently AHURI is working with HUD to develop a discussion paper to be shared amongst participants that highlights each country’s current and future challenges, and which will inform the course of the discussion.

Together with the Australian and U.S. delegations, participating nations will include Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Scotland and Spain.

‘AHURI has already has implemented a response strategy to the pandemic, including investment in a suite of eight rapid research projects to examine the housing outcomes resulting from COVID-19, impacts of housing policy interventions intended to mitigate pandemic impacts, and modelling opportunities for housing policy to stimulate national recovery.’
