Professor Hoon Han

Prof Hoon Han is a highly accomplished and PIA award-winning researcher and educator in urban and city planning. He is an Associate Director of the City Futures Research Centre and served as the Director of the City Planning program (2017-2020) at UNSW. Prior to joining UNSW in January 2011, He held teaching and researching positions at Griffith University (2009-2011) and the University of Queensland (2004-2009). He currently sits on the Editorial Board of Housing Studies (Taylor & Francis) and serves as a Manuscript Editor of Spatial Information Research (Springer).
His research revolves around economic geography, property markets, and smart cities, employing spatial modelling, machine learning, and statistical techniques. His primary goal is to advance the field of spatially integrated social science by investigating the dynamic changes occurring in response to the constraints and opportunities within cities. Prof Han has effectively communicated his research findings through various channels. He has an extensive publication record, with over 100 publications. His contributions have earned significant recognition, as evidenced by the commercialisation of a novel automated property valuation toolkit using AI, and over 2,100 citations of his work worldwide (Google Scholar).
