Professor Michael Mintrom
Monash University
Professor Michael Mintrom is Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute’s Monash University Research Centre. He also serves as the inaugural Director of Monash's Better Governance and Policy campus-wide research focus area. In these roles, Michael deploys his strategic leadership and management capabilities to foster effective collaborations between university researchers and practitioners. Michael is an authority on public policy processes and advocacy. His award-winning research on policy entrepreneurship has been highly influential.
Throughout his academic career, Michael has advanced knowledge of effective policy development, how policies can have strong, positive impacts, and how academic research can better inform practice. Prior to his current role at Monash, Michael served as the Monash Chair and Academic Director at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), leading the acclaimed Executive Master of Public Administration degree, offered in collaboration with multiple university partners. He retains the connection as an ANZSOG Fellow.
