Dr Declan Martin
Senior Researcher
Declan is a senior researcher with AHURI Professional Services, leading and managing projects across housing, urban, economic and social policy.
Before joining AHURI, Declan held postdoctoral positions at Monash Urban Planning and Design and RMIT's Centre for Urban Research, building deep expertise in how urban policy shapes employment and industry outcomes across cities and regions.
Recent projects he has led include evaluating the housing impacts of the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an evaluation of a new temporary accommodation model being trialled in Sydney, and an economic assessment of the costs of homelessness in the Northern Territory.
Declan has a strong grounding in data analytics and specialises in translating complex evidence into practical policy solutions. He supports applied research that creates more inclusive places and better policy outcomes.
He holds a PhD in economic development and urban planning and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in economics), with work published in top international journals.
