Nicola is a research specialist whose work has helped shape housing and social policy at the highest levels of government.

Over 20 years, she has delivered evidence-based evaluations and strategic advice to the Commonwealth and State Governments across initiatives spanning Aboriginal housing, homelessness systems and general housing strategy. Her rigorous, actionable research has helped shape real policy outcomes and lasting change for communities.

Nicola recently led a team to evaluate NSW's Together Home Program, which included linked data and cost-benefit analyses. The evaluation delivered evidence that informed the statewide adoption of a Housing First approach for NSW's homelessness system.

Nicola also led the Trajectories research project, a national study in collaboration with Mind Australia that examined the interplay between mental health and housing pathways for people with lived experience of mental ill-health. This influential research was cited in the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and the Productivity Commission Inquiry into Mental Health.

Nicola holds a PhD from Swinburne University.
