Share your experiences renting or buying a home
What is this research about?
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) has appointed the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) to find out how to better support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to buy their own home.
What does it involve?
You are invited to participate in an individual interview or small focus group with Paula Coghill, an Aboriginal consultant at Lanigiroba Consulting and our research team at AHURI.
As part of the project, we would like to ask you about:
- Your current home and how it meets your needs
- Any barriers you have experienced to entering home ownership
- What support could help other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to buy a home.
The interview will take up to 45 minutes and the focus group will take up to 1.5 hours. They will be held via a video call and recorded. Any information you share is confidential and anonymous. We will not share this information with IBA or other people and organisations. The information you share will be included in a report but we will make sure that you cannot be identified. Your participation in this research will not affect any expression of interest or loan application you currently have, or intend to make, with IBA.
Who can participate?
If you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, aged 18+, and are currently renting, wanting to buy your own home, or have recently purchased a home, we invite you to participate in the interviews or focus groups.
Who is involved in the project?
IBA has funded this project. IBA is part of the Australian Government and aims to enhance the economic development opportunities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia. One of the ways it does this is by providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to own their own home through loans and financial services.
