AHURI welcomes the release of Australia’s National Urban Policy

AHURI welcomes the release of Australia’s National Urban Policy by Senator the Hon Jenny McAllister, Minister for Emergency Management and Cities on Friday 29 November.

‘We are heartened to see national leadership on this area of policy which has a critical impact on how Australians live and connect with each other,’ said Michael Fotheringham, AHURI Managing Director. 

‘We especially welcome the emphasis on ensuring that urban development policies are driven by a strong evidence base and high quality data to inform shared practice.’

‘The policy provides a robust framework to enable better social, economic and environmental outcomes for Australians into the future,’ he said.

Dr Fotheringham was honoured to contribute to development of the policy as a member of the National Urban Policy Forum.
