Announcing our Conference Breakfast - in conversation with Senator David Pocock and Max Chandler-Mather MP

Following the Federal Election, the new Parliament will have the largest cross bench in history – in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. This presents an opportunity for politicians outside of the major parties to have real influence on decision making. What does that mean for housing and homelessness? Can this collection of independent and minor party voices direct the new government to deliver a national housing and homelessness plan?

At this special event, two key members of parliament, with substantial homelessness and housing policy platforms, will discuss how they hope to influence the delivery of meaningful affordable housing and homelessness reform in this term of Parliament.

David PocockDavid Pocock is the new Senator for the ACT and campaigned with an extensive policy platform including a detailed plan to make housing more affordable. Central to his plan are the development of a national housing strategy, a more ambitious National Housing and Homelessness Agreement and a Sovereign Wealth Fund for Housing to deliver more social housing at no direct cost to the Government.

Max Chandler-MatherMax Chandler-Mather is the Federal Member for Griffith for The Greens and their Housing Spokesperson. The Greens have an ambitious housing policy that calls for the build of one million new publicly-owned, affordable, high-quality and sustainable homes. This plan would include 750,000 new public and community houses, 125,000 shared ownership properties and 125,000 public universal access rental homes.

This special breakfast event to be held on Wednesday 10 August and is separately ticketed at a cost of $75 and is strictly limited. Ticket includes breakfast and transfers from select hotels to the National Arboretum, and return to the National Convention Centre Canberra.
